TO ALL PROSPECTIVE REFEREES
To prospective referees, Hi. I am Glenn Meister, the referee coordinator for the North Hills Soccer Club. I am currently looking to recruit the next referee class. You have been selected to receive this email because you likely have a daughter or a son playing for a North Hills Soccer Club team who is in the 12-14 year-old range. If your child is currently 11, but will turn 12 shortly, he or she would be eligible to become a referee. I am writing to encourage your young soccer players to certify to become referees. It's a great way for the girls and boys to become familiar with all of the rules and to gain insight into just what the referees are thinking out there - not to mention that they will be able to explain the offsides rule to all of you. But almost more importantly, it's a really good way to earn some money to pay for those XBox games they like so much. (I realize that the XBox games may apply more to the boys than the girls, but I only have sons. I don't know what teenage girls spend their money on these days, not that I ever knew.) Additionally, the club is always in need of adult referees so if any of you would like to certify, please consider signing up for a class. If your child (or you) would like to become a referee, you must sign them up for an entry level referee course. Classes generally start in January and run through mid-March. To register go to the PAWest website at www.pawest-soccer.org. Click Referee and then Calendar. This will take you to the e-Referee System. Scroll through the course list until you find the course you want and follow the instructions to register for the course. NOTE: 1. Prospective referees under the age of 16 must sign up for a Grade Level 9 entry level course. 2. Prospective referees 16 years of age and older may sign up for either a Grade Level 8 or a Grade Level 9 entry level course. (I recommend the Grade 8 class for older candidates.) Currently there is only one relatively close by Grade Level 9 course listed. It's at Hampton in February. If you have any questions, please ask! Glenn Meister
