The North Hills Soccer Club is looking for new referees to officiate games from U8 all the way up to U18. Refereeing is a great way for young players who love the game of soccer to learn more about the sport and increase their connection to the game, and a fantastic way for parents to help make youth sports possible.
AGES 12-13
Kids ages 12-13 can learn to become referees while earning a weekly stipend by working our North Hills U8 games. If your child is interested in becoming a new referee, you will need to:
- Email [email protected] to have your child's name added to our U8 referees roster
- Have your child attend our in-person training session on Thursday, March 30 at 7 p.m. at Sangree Park
- Create an account at wparefs.gameofficials.net and register for and complete the free 2021 New Grassroots Referee course online
- Purchase a green referee shirt from Amazon, Soccer Source or another vendor, plus a whistle and stopwatch. As PA West is currently mandating masks for all players, coaches, spectators, and officials, electronic whistles are currently recommended.
AGES 14+
At older levels, referees are able to work for multiple clubs and can earn money by working as many games as they want while choosing their own schedule. Committed referees can continue taking higher-level courses and working higher games as their career continues. Players or parents interested in officiating U10 games and above will need to:
- Email [email protected] to have your child's name added to our general referees roster
- Create an account at wparefs.gameofficials.net and register for and complete the free 2021 New Grassroots Referee course online
- Once those steps have been completed, they must then register for, attend, and complete the 2021 Grassroots Entry-Level course
- This is a paid, in-person course, but NHSC will reimburse the course fee once a referee has worked 8 games
- Purchase a multiple referee shirt (black/yellow/green) from Amazon, Soccer Source, or another vendor, plus a whistle and stopwatch. As PA West is currently mandating masks for all players, coaches, spectators, and officials, electronic whistles are currently recommended.
