Become a referee for the North Hills Soccer Club

The North Hills Soccer Club is always looking to add referees. It’s a great way to get involved and earn a little money too! And it’s not just for kids; adults are welcome too!
Referees for our Community and Travel divisions must be at least 14 years old and successfully complete a referee training program to become certified. For our Academy (U8) level, referees must be at least 12 years old. Certification is not necessary as training will be provided.

Community and Travel Referees

To become a certified Community or Travel referee, you must:

  • Successfully complete a certification course
  • Be at least 14 years old at the time of the certification course
  • Complete a background clearance
  • Get a work permit from your school guidance office if you are age 14-17 and still in high school
  • Obtain a uniform

More information can be found here.
Upcoming coming course and registration information can be found here.
Once you are certified, contact the NHSC Referee Coordinator, Glenn Meister, at [email protected].

Additional Details

  • The NHSC will reimburse the $100 course certification fee when eight (8) games are referred within one year. To receive reimbursement, send a copy of the certification course invoice to the NHSC treasurer, Dave Brittain, at [email protected].
  • The NHSC will reimburse the $50 course re-certification fee when eight (8) games are referred in the prior season, current season or combined. To receive reimbursement, send a copy of the certification course invoice to the NHSC treasurer, Dave Brittain, at [email protected].
  • Referees will be paid in cash at the game based on the payment schedule below. Referees should ensure they have been paid the proper amount prior to the start of a game. It is the responsibility of both the referee and the coach to know the proper payment schedule for each age group.
  • The NHSC will not reimburse the cost of the referee’s background check or the referee’s uniform.
